Miami–based writer, Edwidge Danticat, was honored by the city of North Miami at a lunch reception hosted by Mayor Andre D. Pierre on Thursday, October 8th. Haitian-born Danticat recently won the prestigious John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation ‘Genius Award,’ Ms. Danticat was presented a key to the city of North Miami. Also invited to the luncheon were the top reading students from North Miami schools. The students had the rare opportunity to meet the author and read excerpts from her work.
