Room 606, Washington State Convention Center, Level 6

Each year, AWP holds its Annual Conference & Bookfair in a different city to celebrate the authors, teachers, writing programs, literary centers, and independent publishers of that region. The conference typically features 450 readings, lectures, panel discussions, and forums, as well as hundreds of book signings, receptions, dances, and informal gatherings. More than 10,000 writers and readers attended the 2012 conference, and 600 exhibitors were represented at the bookfair. AWP’s is now the largest literary conference in North America.

February 28, 2014. A trilingual reading from So Spoke the Earth, a collection of prose and poetry about pre- and post-earthquake Haiti and published by the Women Writers of Haitian Descent. Authors shared first and third-person accounts and visions of Haiti through various periods of time, and of the moments following the tragedy, exploring stories of the search for survivors and different shapes of grief and hope. Presentations in English, with some French and Haitian Creole (with translations).
