My name is M.J. Fievre. I’m a writer, an educator, an editor, a poet, and a reader.
My love for the written word started in Haiti.
At sixteen years old, I published my first book—a novel—titled Le Feu de la vengeance. Once I started writing, I couldn’t stop. I wrote children’s books, I wrote a memoir, I wrote a poetry collection, and I wrote nonfiction books for Black teens.
I wrote, I wrote, and I wrote.
I am now based in Central Florida, 904,000 miles away from where it all started.
And I am still writing.
I am the author of the Badass Black Girl series, which addresses issues of concern for Black girls and young women. The seminal title, Badass Black Girl, released in 2020, has reached the top-ten bestselling spot in three categories on Amazon’s rankings for the U.S. and the U.K. Empowered Black Girl (2021), the second title in the series, raises awareness and provides insight on issues Black girls and women encounter in society while empowering them to take action through self-discovery and activism. The third title in the series, Resilient Black Girl provides Black teen girls a better understanding of the effects of racism and equips them with skills for navigating spaces in their daily lives.

But it doesn’t end there.
I recognized the need to fill a gap in the book market for Black teen males growing up and learning how to navigate an often racially charged political climate, especially here in the contemporary U.S.
Black and Resilient, which offers 52 weeks of anti-racist activities for Black joy, is the first of such books I’ve written, and will be released on December 2, 2021. Following that, I have written a book titled Walk Boldly, which draws on inspiration from successful Black male figures and serves as an empowerment toolkit for Black male teens. This will be released June 14, 2022.
Writing has opened up doors for me I didn’t know existed. It has, in fact, been necessary for my own survival, and I hope that you can find comfort and solace through my writing.
