The French version of this story (“L’Homme au Pardessus Jaune”) will appear in “So Spoke the Earth,” an anthology due out this summer.

I wrote it when I was 18; it was a finalist at the “Concours Jacques Stephen Alexis de la Nouvelle” (a literary contest) a few months later, in 1999.

My friend Didier J. Desmangles illustrated the story after Gary Victor praised it.
